I have a PF350 and a Micro VR and both work fine for me, and I've used the Micro VR quite often for the better part of a year. Any amp can break, but they're solidly built heads and I don't hear much about them having quality control issues.

Isn't there a thread about issues (maybe not QC) with the Micro? Or was that the cabs?

Ya, but it turned out to be a minor tweak of the tube emulation overdrive circuit, and Ampeg is making good on it for those who reported it and new heads will be tweaked to not have it. And the PF heads don't have it.

i know i can't tell you how to spend your money, but i don't see why you should spend that much. you can get a used 8x10 and decent head for around $650

Seriously. Don't do it.

I'm a die-hard GK fan, but I've bought 3 GK items and two needed repaired. I'm not the only one, either. They have serious quality control issues.

i had a ba115 for almost 5 years and it was the perfect amp , i really really wanted to change it for a ba300 or a ba600 but now I'm not , all the reviews of those amps are about issues , bad quality , buzzing at high volume levels .
if you know something about that jimmy let me know xD thanks again

as i said before I'm not from the US I'm going to buy it online so if i buy something that is broken or with any problem i can't return it , well yes i can but them the process would be more expensive for me than buy a new one xD

but yep i have been watching a lot of that used gear and they look great. but prefer to go with new things

If I was in your situation I'd get a used pa amp (locally if possible) then a few different pre's and maybe a compressor or eq etc.

REALLY since when? I retired from a Ca repair shop and G-K was the brand we saw the least for repairs. Most failures are user error; 2 ohm loads, instrument cables for speaker cables....
If you are buying used don't blame G-K, blame whatever the previous owner did.

Markbass LMIII or Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 would be at the top of my list.

If you like the BA115, I see no reason you wouldn't like the BA300 or 600. They sound about the same to me but with more power. Don't know about any issues with them.

Consider one of the new Genz Benz heads. They sound great, record really well, and are light weight. If yo upoke around on this site there's a lot of info.

AG500 or AG500S.

And while you're at it grab a GS212.

So it sounds like you have a $1000 for amp AND cab or combo. Correct? And Im also assuming that you might not have alot of places where you can go play new gear first.

In your case I'd play it safe. You know you like the Ampeg stuff, specifically the PF500 and 1x15s. I'd get the PF500 with one of those cool portaflex cabs.

Nope. I bought all new. I used the speakon cables that came with the cabs for speaker cables. I always kept at a volume low enough not to be heard outside, but heard within the house.

I haven't made any changes to my equipment and since repaired both my 212 and my amp have worked fine. They're now long out of warranty.

I've talked to multiple locals and TBers who had GK cabs crap out. The repair shop I went to said they saw GK quite a bit.

Regardless, I love their stuff, but this guy can't return anything and there are no service centers outside of the US/Puerto Rico.

EDIT: Only 8 and 4ohm loads --- 8ohm gk 212, 8ohm gk 112, and the two together.
