Interesting article from the My Rare Guitars site....it includes the Fender Bassman and the 50W Marshall bass amp. Yeah, it's guitar-focused, but two bass amps get into the list...and it's a fun article. 10 Classic Guitar Amps & The Songs That Made Them Famous | MyRareGuitars.com | MyRareGuitars.com
And for those who don't know who Dick Dale is, you can benefit by checking this article, reading the #10 listing and hitting the video clip.
Fun stuff!

Hmmm...all this time I thought it was the Beatles). But where is the VT-22? I guess nobody remembers a little band called the Rolling Stones.

All the voodoo around Page and Van Halen's brown sound is pretty cool. I'm a big fan of the Gemini II as far as Ampeg guitar amps go. |

Fender stopped making the blonde tolex showman in 1963 and switched to blackface. 1960-1963 "Blonde" Showman |

I do like the way they referred to the bizarre mods done to EVH's Marshalls then still found room to say that 95% of his tone is in his fingers!

The Edge made the Vox famous, well I suppose if you were born in the late 70s or 80s he did.
Looks like just another "best of" list by some Rolling Stone wanna be writer.

I would add one of the early "garage era" Boogies like Santana played to that list. In fact I think Carlton played a Boogie or a Randall Smith modified Princeton on all those Steely Dan Records in the 70's.

VOX was the UKs Fender. I grew up with VOX the same way as folk in the US grew up with Fender. Saying that VOX became popular because of U2 is asinine! They were everywhere even before the Beatles became kind of well known. This was before the days of Marshall, Sound City, Orange, Hiwatt et al.

And what about the 4X10 Bassman Probably the most important amp in rock n roll |
