10000w 4 ohm amp....600 watt 4 ohm cab=TROUBLE?

Sign in to disble this ad
After using a rented SVT-CL and 8x10 at a recent hall gig i decided I really NEED the classic Ampeg low-mid punch!

QUESTION! Im all set to buy a 4 OHM Aggy 212 to mate with the SVT 7....I doubt that ill ever need another cab and want to get the most out of the amp w/ a small 2 x 12 cab(portabaility, etc)
At 600 w@4 ohms will The 100W @ 4 0hm SVT 7 crush this cab???????HELP!

A ten thousand watt amp would be a problem.

Shouldn't be a problem unless you plan on playing at full volume all of the time. Your house would probably crumble first.

Just watch the volume level and be sure you don't hear the speakers straining or distorting. Your amp CAN damage the speakers, but only if you let it.

I sometimes play my XLS 1500 bridged at 1500watts into my ampeg 210 that is rated at 400watts. The extra power is not an issue at all unless you are pushing either the speakers or amp to their max at which point you'll have a problem.

Use your ears. If the cab is distorting, turn down.
