112 with Eminence RedCoat Tonkerlite
A guitar playing friend gave me a really nice green tolex 112 cab with an Eminence RedCoat Tonkerlite 8ohm speaker in it. It needs a new 1/4" jack so I haven't had a chance to try it with my TH500. Is there any chance this speaker might work for bass? If not, what replacement speaker would you guys recommend? The little cab is really nice and light-weight. It's a non ported cab.
Thanks in advance.
I was afraid of that. Thanks for the quick reply. I'll continue my search for an Aguilar 112.
Yah the speaker is designed to break up fast for
classic guitar tones, not great for anything above 20 to 30watts
Most likely the tiny sealed cabinet is not good for anything for bass use.
The Eminence Beta 12A2 can go in a sealed or ported cab. But would prefer a vented cab
or a large sealed.
relative low cost good performer for 1x12 practice amps
in the 60 to 80watt range.
As a 212 would have good performance with a 150 to 200 watt
head. Very similar to mid range to low cost drivers found in many factory 212's
in a 412 would out perform most 410's and have much more sensitivity
You should resell that tonkerlite. They are like pulling teeth to get. The Neo guitar drivers have been pretty scarce since all the neodymium nonsense started up.
