115 SWR cab issue

Sign in to disble this ad
I went to practice tonight and broght my SWR 1X15 son of bertha cab and my 750x head. Plugged everything in and nothing out of my speakers. Spent some time troubleshooting and figured out that nothing was wrong with the bass or the head. Even plugged a marshall head into the SWR cab. The only noise at all which was minimal, was sound coming out of the horn. The main 15 driver has no signs of life at all.
Worked fine at the last show 2 weeks ago.
Anyway, what are the possibilities causing this issue?
The only thing that comes to mind is maybe when I moved it last, a speaker wire came off somewhere.
If that is not the case, what else could it be?

It certainly could be a wire. It happened to me with my SWR Goliath II

To check your cab, remove the grill, unbolt the speaker, and very very carefully ease the speaker out. I no longer have my SoB 1x15, but I think you should have very little trouble finding a disconnected lead.

i mean this in a respectful way.....

when stuff doesn't work.....i take it apart and look at it
i've been able to resurrect more than i've buried

i'm no electronics tech, but i've learned some basic stuff that makes my stuff work again and saves me cash

open it up......look at it

40 miles to the Fry's in Plano could save you a repair bill

Yup. I put the cab up on the bench on it's back to begin pulling it apart and could see the black wire hanging in the port hole. Good as new.

amen. this has got me wishing i had taken Electrical Engineering. Something tells me if I knew what I was doing, I'd spend so much time making musical toys that I'd put Korg and Moog etc. to shame.

Edit: I guess what i just said applies more to effect tinkering.. but yea, ripping things apart is definitely a great addiction to have!
