12"? or 15"? in my TKO 80

How do you measure the diameter of a speaker?

I have an old Peavey TKO 80 with a 12" speaker, or at least I assumed it was 12", but when I compare it to my Fender Rumble 100 with the 15" speaker, they look like the same size.

I know the old TKOs came with 12" or 15". There is no size mentioned in the manual.

So what is the exact way to measure the diameter of speakers?

Thank you,
Johnny StingRay

The diameter is measured to the outside edges of the speaker. If your speaker is front mounted, which i believe it is, it will be simple to do.

My TKO80 was 15 inches speaker (black Widow).

Thats right. I think it is a 15" and probably a 4 ohm. Avatar has a great deal going on 4 ohm 15" replacements for $68 plus shipping. I think they are Eminence deltas which would be a great replacement.

I pulled the speaker, the model number is 15825 so it's 15", 8ohm. So now I can run a line from my Fender Rumble pre-out to the Peavey power-in (or run two lines out of my Digitech BP80 to both amps) and have a poor man's version of a twin 15" "stack".....................cheap way to do it until I can sell both and get the Markbass rig I really want.

Thanks for the input everyone.
