15 - 18" cab, help me find one?

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings all, a question for you. I have a SWR 750 head which pushes 450 into 8ohms and 750 watts into 4ohms. Right now I have a 8ohm Ampeg SVT 410 HE that handles 500w. I was just about to buy a Ampeg SVT 15E to complete the setup but I noticed it only handles 200W? If I were to add the 15 cab to my setup it would receive 375 watts, nearly double it's rating right?
Which 15 or 18" cab should I be looking for to pair with my 410?

Thank you!

Carvin has 15" and 18" cabs with tweets that are both 4 and 8 Ohms and rated @ 800W.

BTW, I would add another 410 before a larger single speaker.

Thanks RNV,
4x10 instead huh? I could try that out... just kinda surprised the ampeg one isn't higher wattage to pair up with the other SVT stuff.

410 will push more air and give you more volume. 18" speakers "tend" to be slower in their response time as well. I'm not a fan of mixed match speaker sizes, but there are many here who do. It is a never ending debate and only your ears can tell. But if you like your sound already, why not double it?

Watts mean next to nothing. What counts is displacement, and few commercial 15s or 18s have as much displacement as a 4x10. Another 4x10 will give better results.
