15" Cabinet / 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm

Sign in to disble this ad
I am trying to get a feeler for a good 15" cabinet. I am reading good reviews on the Avatar TB153. My other question is I have a GK MB Fusion so would it be better to go with 1 cabinet @ 4 ohms or 2 cabinets @ 8 ohms?

umm. it would be louder if you went 2 cabs at 4 ohms. ((2) 8ohm cabs)

How loud do you wanna go? A single 3015LF loaded cab will get stupid loud. Two would probably require earplugs (and possibly some Depends).

I am not trying to be super loud. Trying to maximize my amp with the possibility of hauling around 1 cabinet.

Then a single 4 ohm Avatar TB153 should do the trick. Now, of course if you really did need to be louder, unless the GK MB Fusion can go down to 2 ohms safely, you wouldn't be able to add another cab. Unless you play in a really loud band, you shouldn't need more than one of those cabs.

Check out the Avatar TB153 thread for some reviews and ask questions of the guys who own one already.

I use a Fender Pro 215 cab which is 4 Ohms and more than enough to run a Genz Benz GbE1200. I did have an
Ampeg115B which was 8 Ohms and did the job with the Ampeg2Bre. The Fender cab is pricey(over $1000) but top notch gear and worth it, IMO.......Good luck
