Ok so I have a question for ya'll. If you had ONLY 1500 dollars to spend at GC ONLY to buy a NEW amp, what would you get. This excludes used stuff sold there. Thanks!

Are you talking just the head or head & cab(s)?

If I had only 1500 to spend on an entire new rig, I certainly wouldn't go to GC.

You can buy a high power head and big cab from the Talk Bass classifieds for 1500. Just look at those deals on the Mesa Big Block and M6 heads for sale.

But if you must buy new, then a new Big Block or M6/M9 is a given.

300-500W head
4x10 or bigger cab

Play all of them you can afford & see which one you like best. I'd probably start with the Peavey VB2 & Ampeg 410.

He kinda said only GC and no used gear, lol. I mean I agree with you 100% but I'm assuming this guy already thought about those options and ruled them out for whatever reason.

The most budget conscious rig I can think of, without being too cheap is a LMIII and a GK Neo cab, either 410 or 212.

A Walakabout Scout 12, and with the $200 change, maybe some strings, cables, or pedals.

I would call up ChromeDomeAudio and get two complete tube amps.

This is just because I need a new amp and there is a contest going on where you create a wish list with less than 1500 dollars in it and you are entered to win everything in it. Just throwing this out there.

Mesa Walkabout Scout 15 combo-I'd rather have 2 Scout 12s but for 1500 the 15 combo would pretty much do everything for me........except be modular and light.

Yeah $1500 for a combo amp sounds downright nutty :0

GC doesnt have a whole lot to work with but with what I know they have..get something Mesa. Not really into Ampeg or MarkB or Gaileen, so......

You could almost get 2 Hydrive 4x10's and a LH1000 for $1500.....

For whatever reason I really didn't like the LMII (second favorite head ever next to the F500) with the GK NEO cabs, though it blew the 700RB-II away. The MB-500, however, sounded fantastic with the 410 and 115 tried (separately, not together).
