My 1515/66 with side casters moves almost as easily as my old 15/6. If you've got the pack space, get the biggest cab you're comfortable with IMHO.

+1, especially if you can only have one cab. When I first got my F215 I took it to every single gig...even the small ones, which freaked out one band leader a little, but it sounds great at low volume as well, so why not?

These are my current live cabs

l-r, F215, F115, F112. Covers everything...been digging the F115/F112 stack lately for the loud upright gigs

I'm not too sure about trying new designs I've never tried. 10's work for me. They always have. I've tried all types of 12's and 15's and was never happy. I really like my mids.

I'm considering having a nice lightweight neo 810 built, with good drivers. might be expensive, but that's okay. Also considering an 810 with beta drivers."

Guess you decided to try a new design you've never tried, even though 10s have always worked for you & you've never been happy with 15s. Good thinkin' .
Is what sarcasm?

I've always played 10's, I'm happy with them because I haven't played much else. It's really hard to find good information out there. Before TB I was on another forum and a guy was saying 1980's 410+115 Peavys are the best cabs out there.

I'm highly considering a 1515. Or the 1515/66 because of the larger profile.

I want a 810 sized cab, I know many would disagree, but I like a large cab on stage.

Heck yeah! Fills the stage...the lows wash around you, the mids and highs up closer to ear level...what's not to love?

Huh. I've read over the years about how fervent the greenboy people were about slamming down any threads that mentioned an alternative. This is the first time I've seen it in real time - like watching sharks swarm a chummed thread.

That's all I have. Just observing. Don't want to get between a predator and prey type thing, here.

I like large cabs too.

Where are you located? It's always best if you get a chance to hear one for yourself.

"I've tried all types of 12's and 15's and was never happy."

I'm confused. Which is it?

I've owned mostly 10" cabs, but I've tried many 12's and 15's and was never happy.

What point are you trying to make?

In all fairness, the OP actually asked in this thread, so things may be improving

In all seriousness, the 12's and 15's that have come out in more recent years really are amazing. I did try a fEarful, and while their specific voicing wasn't for me in the end, they honestly are impressive. Boggles the mind what a single speaker can be made to do these days.

But even outside of the fEarful line of cabs, there are other builders using those same super-drivers to work their own brands of magic. If you're willing to throw out the old notions about how driver size and cab weight supposedly dictate your tone, the sky's the limit. Myself, a Baer ML112 pretty much killed my cab-GAS (Except maybe for one more...), and it arguably falls into the same category.

Ignore the nay-sayers and nut-jobs. Use your own ears. There are a lot of builders and users of Fearful cabs that would be very happy to demo one to you. The good thing about demoing a fearful is that they are all voiced the same. It is just a matter of your loudness requirements and size/weight limitations. For example, a 12/6 will sound exactly the same as a '66, just not nearly as loud. Please tell us where you are so someone can offer to help you out. If you live in the Providence, RI area, give me a shout.

After lots of confusing advice, I'm leaning towards a 1515/66 built by LDS.

There is a lot of into out there, it almost seems too good to be true.

Is this cab really as loud and as good as claimed? Can it really blow away an 610 and 810 and put out a much more balanced sound?
Don makes all kinds of one-off cabs. He doesn't just have a stock 1515/66 design. What design did you and he work out?

No, I think the point is you are being obtuse and condescending. He has thus far stuck with 10's and although he's tried 12's and 15's he never cared for them. It's simple. You seem to be the only one in the thread having problems with his statements.

How about we help him out in his journey instead of making him feel unwelcome?

You should check out the fEarful thread here and over at the fEARful forums and read up on the speaker designs and why they can do what they do. It's really informative and it will probably change what you believe about different speaker sizes and how they sound.

Are you reading the same thread that I am?
The OP asked for advice on a fEARful-style cab and has been given the advice he asked for by the "geenboy people". Where's there been any "slamming down"?

From what I've read, the 18Sound mid driver in the 15" and dual woofer cabs sounds different than the Eminence Alpha/Alphalite mid drivers used in the 12/6.

OP asks about a greenboy cab, and gets relevant answers.

You interpret this as sharks in frenzy?
You don't want to step in, but stick your foot in the percieved waters anyway?

Fascinating. Almost like dropping a bait amongst said sharks, looking for bites.
