1952 JBL D-130

My friend gave me a very old JBL D-130. Sadly the cone was totally disintegrated and the voice coil seized. Does anyone know definitively if it could be re-coned and re-charged? I have read a lot about how the original models are too narrow in the magnetic gap to accomodate the re-cone kits that are currently available. Also, is it true that a frame this old may have lost its flux ? I would love to load this old speaker into a cabinet to use with my old Ampeg V4B for some phat vintage tone, but I am afraid it might cost an arm and a leg and maybe be overpowered by the tube head?

The D130 is more of a guitar driver than for bass. I would have thought that re-cone kits for that driver should be still available.

you should be able to recone it as a D140 ( using an aftermarket kit) or, if you have an authorized JBL reconer do it, they now use the E kits (E130 or E140) for the D and K series. they sound great with an E140 kit, essentially making it into a K140 (it sounds the basically exactly the same but handles more power).
