1st AMP & Repair

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings !
Today I bought a Fender Rumble 100/115. On my budget it was the right price, even if it had a blemish. The blemish was a broken POT controlling the treble on the EQ. Not knowing what position it was broken off in, I decided to repair the amp before putting it into service.

In talking with a couple of friends and Darren Riley, I decided to have a go at fixing it myself. It took a while to find all the screws to allow the "head" to slide to give enough access to the boards. Removing all the knobs, nuts, screws from the front and then about 9 little screws from the bottom. I slide the "front" board out just enough to work on the broken POT. In 10 minutes, I had the old one out and the new in. I put things back together, getting the holes to align was a bit difficult. Now I have a full functional Fender Rumble 100/115.

Like all the other newbies, now it's practice, practice and more practice. My thanks to Darren and his 1st class show, google.com, this forum for the tidbits and threads on repairs & amps, and of course Craigslist for saving my budget!

Just for completeness, I'm going to replace all the old knobs with new ones. That single new one sticks out like a sore thumb.
