1x12 300 watt cab

Sign in to disble this ad
I saw the reviews with the ibanez promethean and i think it is really a great idea...

I'm trying to come up with something portable that packs power with good tone..

ive tried reading on the articles here and since i dont know a lot about this i got confused even more..

i guess i need your help in looking for a design for a speaker cab that can handle 300 watts

i can get a 300 watt 12" full range speaker

i saw this:

http://archives.telex.com/archives/E...rs%20Plans.pdf

im thinking of using the full range speaker on that design...

im not sure if i should add a tweeter or a horn on that design... i want a good bottom with good mids....

i know my idea might sound dumb but it's cheap here in our country anyway

thanks for any advice you can give

TL606 and the like were designed around the EVM drivers, and where twelves are concerned the EVM 12 is particularly thin in low end response. The EVM 12 is also very expensive and heavy. You're better off with something of the fEarful style, or look at the cab designs posted on the Eminence site for most of their drivers. As for watts, that's not what you should be considering. Frequency response, sensitivity and driver excursion (xmax) is what matters, not watts. And where tweeters are concerned if they don't reach down to at least 2.5kHz you're much better off with a midrange driver.

Forget the 12", forget the 300W

You want the maximum loudness (SPL), out of the smallest, lightest, and lowest sounding box you can get?

You can't get it.

What trade offs are you willing to make?
