1x15 Cab speaker upgrade?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there,

I have a marshall MBC115 cab. The cab seems to fart quite abit, even with the bass EQ down quite low on the head. Im looking to change the speaker, and i wondered if anyone has done this before with the MBC cab.

The speaker inside appears to be unbranded, but i assume its 300W at 8ohms. Does anybody know of any good speakers that would work well as a replacement? All I've found so far is the Eminence beta 15.

Any feedback would be great,
Cheers
Lorry

Isn't this a duplicate of something posted earlier in the week?

If so, why do you expect different answers simply by asking again?

No this is a different post altogether, the other thread is complains about Marshall's QC. This is about speaker upgrades.

The general consensus seems to be if the internal volume measures more than 3.5 cubic ft, Kappalite 3015LF, (with 500-700 hz mid driver of some rediculously expensive variety), less than 3.5 cubic ft, 3015 non LF.

I like the B&C PEV13 as a mid, everyone here seems to hate 'em, but I suspect there may be some audio placebo $$ effect goin' on there....

Maybe your 1x15 cab is farting out because it's a 1x15 cab, and not a 2x15 cab, (hint, hint).

I was thinking about maybe trading it in for the MBC410 instead. Another idea would be to upgrade to a warwick 4ohm cab, as they look quite good and have similar specs

The usual result of "upgrading" an existing speaker is a crapshoot at best. You're trying to make a 1x15 cabinet do more that it is capable of. Heed RikenBoogies advice: more cones.
