I'm looking for two 8 ohm 1x15 cabs for my Mesa M-Pulse 360. I really want something easy to transport - relatively small and light. I'm playing mostly classic rock and blues tunes in the band I'm in now. I like more of an old school tone (I play 4-string P-type basses with flats) so tweeters are "optional" I suppose, but I still need some punch to work in live gig situations. I'm thinking about Bag End S15-D's. I've never had the pleasure of playing through them, but everything I hear is good. Small, light, relatively inexpensive, and pretty efficient I understand. The M-Pulse is "only" 360 watts at 4ohms but it's a pretty loud 360 watts.
I know there are plenty of other options, including Epifani PS115, Ampeg, SWR etc. I'd love to pair the M-Pulse with Mesa cabs, but I can't get past the 70+ lbs for a single 15 cab (why are Mesa cabs so heavy?)
Suggestions based on your experience? |

| | | | They are heavy but I have never played through a 115 cab that sounds anywhere near as good as a Mesa, and I've owned and tried a bunch of them.

Those scout cabs are certainly a lot lighter than the powerhouse cabs, Colonel Monk. |

Suggestions based on your experience? | I'd say you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not at least consider a pair of Mesa Diesel, or newer Powerhouse 1x15's. The Diesel is basically a TL606 design that's built like a tank (3/4 marine grade baltic birch, serious internal bracing, real metal hardware etc.) .. which is why the Mesa cabs weigh so much. Even their Neo loaded cabs like the Walkabout and Scouts are on the heavy side.
regarding the weight, as JimmyM would say .. man up dude
good luck with your cab search.

I have 4 TL606s, and they are a kick-butt meat-and-potatoes 1x15s. ( Especially for the old-school, classic rock, P-bass stuff.) If you load them with some Neo-equipped drivers, they would get a bit lighter.
If you get your hands on some Mesa 1x15 Diesels from the 90's you'll never get rid of them.

good luck with your cab search. | I'd consider Mesa Diesel 1x15's if I could find them. I never seem to see 1x15's for sale, only 2x15's.
As far as Powerhouse cabs go, I have some concern with pushing 2 600W cabs with a 360W amp. Any validity to that?
And, who cares what JimmyM says |

And, who cares what JimmyM says | well, I don't much care what Jimmy says either (but he does say it very entertainingly ), but he, and others, always chime in when someone complains about the weight of rigs. BTW, I use Mesa stuff and it is on the heavy-ish size.
I regularly see Diesel 1x15's cabs on c-list and the bay, and even occasionally here on TB too (TB'er Chef sold some not too long ago).
as far as pushing 2 cabs rated at 600w with a 360w amp, you should have no issues at all.
enjoy!

| | | | I had a 360 and used it with Epi UL-115 and it sounded great.
Cabs are 38-40 lbs. each. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
