2, 32ohms Plus 2, 8ohms. Will it work?

I just finished working on a 410 cabinet, and have been mulling over buying new speakers for it, but I'm a bit poor at the moment.

So I put in what I have, based on a theory, but I'd like to know if that will work.

It's an 8 ohm designed cab.

One of the original speakers was fried, so I removed it to find that it was a 32 ohm speaker.

Well, I removed another, and was left with 2, 32 ohm speakers wired in parallel down to 16 ohms.

I had 2, 8 ohm speakers, and wired them in series up to 16 ohms.

Now, I took both sections, and wired them together in parallel. Will that knock it down to 8 ohms again?
Do I need to just buck up, and spend the $80 for 2 new 8 ohm speakers?

Thanks in advance.

It will work, but may not sound very good.

Identical speakers would be better for a variety of reasons.

It would be 8ohms total indeed.

But the previous post is right, better to have identical speakers.

Also a big factor is a cab properly designed for those speakers.

Pure speculation:

Since the speakers have difference impedences, you will push the 8 Ohm speakers to the point that they blow and the 32 Ohm speakers will barely be audible.

...again, pure speculation.

What you have is a 4x10 with four 32Ω speakers installed. The best option is to replace the one faulty 32Ω driver or have it re-coned. If this in an Ampeg cabinet FlipTops have suitable drivers.

It will work, and power distribution should still be even (theoretically). But when in doubt I'd try to play it safe and follow Paul's advice.

Yes, you have 8 ohms. It should work fine. The mis-matched speakers likely have different sesitivity, power handling capabilites and frequency response curves, so I agree that this is a less than ideal set up, but will work until you can save up for 4 identical drivers. Any unused gear you can ebay or craigslist?
