2 channel amp or EQ pedal? Other options?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I think I'm keeping my Mouse. I heard some recordings and it sounds so nice - looks cool, too. The thing is, I need to EQ it differently from my 44-02 that I also use on the same gig. I don't have time (nor do I want) to redo the eq on my amp when I switch.

My question is, do I get an simple EQ pedal to use to make some adjustments on the Mouse (my 44-02 is active so I have some options there) or would it be better to get a 2 channel amp - like a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 or Max 6.0?

I am NOT GAS'ing for a new amp. I like my little combo/stack that I have, and I don't have money lying around to get a new rig. However, I am open to that if it's a "necessary" option.

Any thoughts?

Tonebone Bassbone - introduction

Hit a switch and you have a different tone and output level at your feet.

Good bass tone starts with your hands.

+1 Bassbone! EQ works great for passive & active basses.
I never play a gig without mine!

Totally forgot about the Radial products. The output is so hot from the Rob Allen that the level control would be great as well. Off to research Bassbones.

Definitely go with a pedal. changing your amp could change a lot for all of your basses and require more knob twiddling to get everything where you want it to be. The Bassbone looks great but for simple EQing and on the fly switching it seems like it might be a little overkill. Perhaps give the Source Audio Programmable EQ a look?

Good point. Might be overkill. A programmable pedal may be as well. I was thinking just a simple Boss Bass EQ which also has a level control. Tame the output of the Mouse and some of the boomy low end. I just swap the cable out when I play so it would be easy to just step on a tuner/mute, swap the cable, hit the eq pedal, tap the mute and go.

Or a line 6 M9 and have tuner, eq's, comp, and other stuff all in one pedal.

Last time I needed to cable two basses in a quick change over environment, I used a really good stomp EQ with gain and output setting. I've also used the Bassbone and there are things about I dig, things I don't. I still use a Korg Pitchblack+ as my tuner and channel switch.

Glad you decided to keep the Mouse. I've used mine in church for years and it's worked Very well for me.

Hi!! I'm using a Demeter BEQ-PB pedal with my Rob Allen MB-2!! The result is awesome. Great Eq, very transparent and very useful. Soundman love it and they don't worry when I'm changing bass!!
