I have a crown drivecore XLS 1500, and two preamps on top of it. Say I wanted to run a keyboard and a bass to seperate preamps, then into my poweramp, then into my fEarful cab. What would be the best way to do that?

Also if it's ok to do in bridge mode, and what speakon config I should be using to get no signal loss, if possible (crown bridged mode is wired +2 +1)

| | | | Get a Rocktron Patchmate and a midi controller. The two preamps go into the first two loops, and then effects or other preamps into the other loops, and all midi switchable. |

Use the two pins of the XLR input as separate inputs to the power amp, from your two preamps. The third pin (pin 1 I think) is a shared ground.
The XLR input basically mixes its two input pins, albeit with one pin out of phase with the other (i.e., it subtracts the two inputs). If the two signals are independent of one another, i.e. bass and keys, then phase doesn't matter. |

So... is there anything wrong with "linking" the crown inputs?

if at least one of them has a side chain effects loop with a blend knob that is post EQ in the circuit, then you can plug the preamp out of the first one into the effects return of the amp with the loop and blend the two signals. This will in effect be very close to using a mixer. |

still curious about what it means to link the poweramp inputs though.

| I think you are already doing that... if I understand what you are doing [big if]. |

| | | | You may not need to use both inputs of your amp. Many amps handle this by using a selection/switch on the amp, and run both channel from a single input. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
