2 X 115 RBH Gallien Krueger + big ass head!

Sign in to disble this ad
The picture of my next rig is getting clearer!

I tried a Gallien Krueger 115RBH with the head I'll soon buy, a Mesa Carbine M9! And it was killer!! So I thought hey... why not 2?! We play big clubs and festivals and big scenes, so I think it would be a good add!

Do any TBer have ever played with 2 115RBH? And what would be the difference between 2 X 115RBH and 2 X 115 Mesa PowerHouse?!

Thanx TBers! You guys are like the bible!

Hi, I've actually used all of those cabs with my M9 and I will say that the RBH cabs are much punchier, louder and 'clear' sounding than the PH cabs. I actually replaced the PH speakers with EV's in my PH 2x15 with great results. I say go with the RBH if the size isn't a disqualifying factor.

So if I look for a more modern sound, the 115RBH would be better? But is it versatile? Cause the "cover band" aspect of the band needs me to also have some classic rock tone once in a while (like 35% of the time)

The GK Neo 115-iii has been getting some love around here recently. They are cheap and light and have great tone.

I think the RBH is more 'versatile' as it has less of it's own sound and gives you more of just what you are putting into it.
The GK 1x15 Neo doesn't have the depth and punch of the RBH. The PH cab is also a little 'bright' by comparison and has a less 'flat' response. Hope this helps!

I use myself 2 x 15 cabs, before I used 2 seperate cabs with 15 inch, apart from the sound I find getting a 2 x15 out or in the car childsplay where the 2 seperate cabs gave me snapping for air and sweating all over. The 2x15's handle better in my opinion (and they sound great), I use a fender bassman 2x15 with neo 15 inch speakers and an Craaft B215 cab.

I'd agree with all of the above - also, although I generally don't care for G-K cabs, I LOVE their amps - and the RBH series cabs... IMO, the RBH cabs are as good as anything out there - and this is coming from a Mesa fan...

Be advised that just like Mesa cabs, G-K RBH cabs are a bit on the large, heavy side - and very well made and durable...

My old gigging amp was a GK700Rb/115 combo, which was the 700RB head built into the 115RBH cab. Very solid but heavy by today’s standards.
Had a nice pull-out handle and wheels though. Overall great combo unit.

I don't care about how big or how heavy it is! So I think I'll stick with the 115RBH X 2! But I would really like to try a diesel 115 soon!! Just to hear what it's like with the original EV speakers! I only hear good things about those!! So for now, my rig would be a Mesa M9 with 2 X 115RBH! Pretty killer! I'll post pics as soon as I get some!!

If that's the case, I think you owe it to yourself to check out one of these before buying:

IME, there isn't another cab on the market that can bring the volume, low end, and yet clear highs that this cab does - and I've played them all... Probably the only single cab that can hang with this one would be one of greeenboy's designed 151566 - that cab is *probably* king of the hill for "one box solutions"...

see you guys are talking about using two GK RBH 115's. I am also looking at doing the same with my Mesa M2000. I have a beginner question about Ohms, I was hoping one of you guys could help me out. My Head recommends a 4ohm load, the RBH cabs don't have parallel jacks, my head does have two speaker outs though. So if i plug one cab into each output will i have 4ohms or does it have to go amp to cab to cab? this is my first rig that is not a combo.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If the cabs are 8 ohms , two of them is 4 ohms when each has a lead to the amp.

I'm more curious about what Guish wound up buying!

With the actual cab weight in consideration, you could schlep two 1515/66 cabs for a little more than what that 810 weighs...
