2 x Ashdown mini 48 cabs - What Head???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, not really up on ohms to be honest so need a little help here! I'm a guitarist really but been playing bass in a band for a year or so. I used to play a while ago and had an old Trace 15" combo which was knockout so bought TE this time around.... but a litle dissapointed. Bought a 715X 500W which on its own was crap so bought the 2 x 10 cab which does improve things.... but a huge weight and size.

Anyway, cut to the chase - borrowed an Ashdown mini 48 off my mate before buying the 2 x 10 cab and was realy impressed with it and thinking of buying a pair of them now that I have seen up for sale. These are 8ohm rated cabs at 600W.

So I need to buy a good head (circa £300-500) which will hopefully blow the TE away. What I want to know is A) will this be louder and punchier and B) how do I get full power through these cabs? Am i reight in saying that paired, they'll give me a total of 300W each so need a 600W head at 4 ohms and if using just the one cab, would be 600W at 8 ohms? No?
