IMHO that goes for most, if not all, solid state amps.

True, but D breakup sounds weirder than regular SS breakup... At least to my ears. It's a flutter vs a staticky pop.

Anyway, the D amps have huge power for headroom & because adding more power to a D amp doesn't really add to weight like it does for SS non-D heads. In other words, because they can.

Just tried running my Carvin BX250 into my 4x12(1500watt) last night in my punk rock group, and I would say it was plenty! And its an 8ohm cab, so I was only running round 200watts.

Right!

Into a decent cab it can be incredibly loud. A single 115 or 210 is not a 412.

True. Just trying to show more support on this thread and the known consensus here on TB.
Had to find out for myself.

IME- The BG250 is a great amp- works fine for me for medium sized gigs with my band- (2 guitarist with reasonable sized combos) and an average loudness drummer (except when he gets excited) But we are working to keep our stage volume reasonable.

last gig at a medium bar, i went to back of club and the BG250 was pretty loud all throughout the bar, could hear myself over drummer just fine.

ANything bigger and we would need my bass in PA anyhow.

I own a BG250 and compared to other 200 watt + combos I've owned this thing is a monster. I don't need to run it past 6 and never have an issue hearing myself [with 2 guitards and a mega meathead super hard hitting beatmonkey]

The thing is light and fairly portable, if your really concerned about being able to be heard buy 2 and A B them.

That's what I keep saying and folks just don't believe it.
