I guess I always had vintage gear and never noticed before.I just picked up a new Ampeg SVT 1x15 to go with a used one I just bought.
I used to work in construction and hate fiberglass insullation, the itch and the smell.
This happened when I bought my Epifani 3x10 new also.I guess playing it blows the fibers out the ports, but man...
My question is,will it go away? Is there a sollution ?

only thing i can think of is removing the speaker so you have space to work and put a cloth over the insulation.

Lightbulb Umm!

Why don't you have someone less sensitive pull out the glass fibre and replace it with Polyester Batting.

Is it just the smell of the binder adhesive or is the cab blowing fibers? If its the smell, that should subside, if its fibers you might want to try the cloth filter or covering the FG with ploybatting as described above.

Remove the speaker, then pull out all of the fiberglass crap.

Using staples or spray adhesive, line all of the interior surfaces with mattress pad foam - the eggshell shape type. Can get a huge sheet of it at Walmart for $15, and it will most probably sound better than the fiberglass did.

yeah I hate that fiberglas! whats worse is the fibreglas boards that are installed in some places as firproofing. Really fun drilling holes in that crap to get cables through!
But about cabs, I have noticed that most fibreglas lined speakers it tends to pull away from the sides and flop around inside eventually.
