Hi im new to this forum. I have been building guitar cabinets for a few years now. I want to build a specific bass cabinet but am confused by a few things. I want to build a 2x10/1x15 cab. I don't know how to do this in my design program. I don't know if I should separate the 2x10s and 1x15 by a shelf, add a horn, tweeter??, what kind of crossover? Any help would be appreciated. |

Read through the DIY sticky at the top of the page and checkout the Fearful threads, tons of good info in both of those. Several experienced builders and some real engineers frequent this sight as well. |

| | | | isnt it much simpler to have 2 cabs and hire a fat boozed up rodie to lug them?
I have only ever tried making sub boxes for cars, and that is alot easire than live sound for a bass.
I understand the 10s are great for cutting through and the 15 to shake the walls, but itd be a heavy cabinet to have all 3 combined.
I suppose if you look at the 10s as horns almost, then look at cabs with a horn setup?
the 2 10s at the top, and fat boy at the bottom.

Fifteens and eights or sixes, yes. As far as simple bass reflex designs are concerned that form factor is covered about as well as it can be in the fEarful threads. No need to reinvent the wheel. But if you must, this is a good starting place: The Speaker Building Bible - Techtalk Speaker Building, Audio, Video, and Electronics Customer Discussion Forum From Parts-Express.com |

If you dont know know who ^ Bill is, check out his site. http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/
This man knows what he its talking about. His advice to check out the fearful threads is sage (if a little surprising, as they are somewhat in competition to his item designs).

Many of my authorized builders do both lines. I've got no problem with that, it's the same as a car dealer that sells both Toyota and Mercedes. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
