Matching cabs are ALWAYS the better choice.

Thats what I'm hearing, but why, in a nutshell if you dont mind? Is it because you would distiguish it as two seperate sounds?

Thanks.

They talk about notes getting cancelled out or boosted due to phase issues while using different size speakers together. I've also heard something about comb filtering, but also read an article that said that your brain doesn't recognize that.

Duh. Whatever.

The reasons are complicated, but in a nutshell matching cabs combine in a way that are predictable and offer the best possible coverage on the horizontal plane. A lot of reading is required to understand why.
