2x10 Stand alone Eden210xst or Carvin BRX

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently using an Eden WT330 and Bag End 15 and been pretty happy. However, I had a chance to try a 210xst and it just knocked me out and it was not just the 'bigger' low end. I pretty much liked it across the board. I only play 4 string (Precision with flats and a fretless to be named soon) and am playing in a jazz/pop group that is not very loud although we expect to play some larger clubs and cabarets. I like the idea of sticking to one cab and I believe a real good 2x10 will be better than than a single Bag End.
I have read many good reviews and comments on both the Eden and Carvin BRX cabs but no direct comparison of the 2. I am thinking of the Carvin because a) new it is about the same price as a used 210xst, b) it is lighter than the Eden c) comments I have read lead me to believe it is a pretty good stand alone candidate. Thanks

Well, I have played Eden 2x10 cabs for 20 years and they are absolutely rock solid and I would have no problem buying one used. Nothing against the Carvin, I don't any of them around my parts, but with Eden you have a really time tested pro cabinet.

I have a BRx10.2. It's not a bad cab (and it *is* light), but I replaced the speakers/crossover (long story) to make it an 8-ohm cab, so I can pair it with another cab with my Shuttle. I wouldn't have one at 4 ohms. As a lone cab, it wouldn't get the job done for me.

HTH,

Yeah, if you like the Eden tone, then that's the cab to buy. They *are* very solid pieces and won't let you down.

Thanks for the input guys. It would seem that whatever anyone has said about the Eden, it is built to last.

I will look for a used 210xst at a reasonabel price.

IMO a single 2x10 is not sufficient to gig with safely, I always use a pair.

I love my Eden 210xlt. (8 ohm with my Trace Elliot ah250 GP12SMX head)
Great sound, and solid. Bought the cab used. I'm wanting to add another, and run them in a vertical tower.

I have read alot of comments on how much folks like the 210xlt/xst combination. For what I play, I think the xst is the best first step and I may not need any more than that. There are no loud guitars or heavy handed drummers to keep up with!!

Never played the eden, own brx210,it is a fantastic 210. I use it alone for most indoor gigs with a lmiii and and it sounds great. brx rated 600 watts,it handles the 500 watt lmiii without breaking a sweat. also have a brx 410. I never was into carvin before until jorg schroeder recommended their b1500 bass head to me. Not sure about all of their gear but the brx cabs and new bass heads from carvin are as good as anything out there in my humble opinion, seriously.
