2x12/4x12 for 200 watt tube amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello chaps
Im looking for some advice on which 2x12 or 4x12 cab i should pair my soundcity b200 plus with.
I love clean big low mid bass sounds like paul turner of jamiroquai.
The reason I ask for your help is I was fairly set on a bareface supertwelve but from what iv read they dont sound too hot unless your pouring about 500 watts plus?
I like the looks of the berg nv series and the aguilar db series.
I dont have much experience with underpowering a cab and the catastrophes that can cause.
I say 2x12 or 4x12 because I would love to have two 2x12s so I could split them and just take one for smaller gigs.
Cheers guys.

Why not email Alex at Barefaced and ask him for his opinion. He'll tell you whether your amp is suitable or not.

Not many people do, mostly because it's bogus. Doesn't happen.

ya, the reason they say 200w may not be enough is because those low frequency high xmax drivers that alex uses need more wattage to get the higher spl's that you can get with a more traditionally made bass cab, not because it'll damage them.

I'm not worries about damaging them
I'm worried I will have a great amp and two great cabs, but with both together they will sound like crap because those supertwelves need quite a few watts to open up.
Aguilar DB series looks mighty tasty in white hot though
