3-way cab with Deltalite II 2512

I was thinking about building some stereo speakers for my living room at home. I already have a few Deltalite II 2512s laying around from some old projects, so I figured they'd be great for my project. However, the more I look into it, I can't decide if I should do a 2 or 3 way cabinet. The deltalite has a very good response all the way up to around 4hz... even though I know above 2hz it's really hard to predict what a speaker will do.

Question being, all money aside, would it be best to use the deltalite as a sub with midrange and tweeter or just a 2-way crossed from woofer to tweeter around 3600hz? I'm looking for a clear, hifi listening experience.

Suggestions?

I wouldn't use the Deltalite 2512 up to 3.6 kHz in a home audio system. I suggest 1.6 kHz ballpark tops; above that it starts to beam. Three-way is probably your best bet, unless you use a good horn tweeter with a decent-sized horn. In my opinion the crossover is the most critical part of a high-end multi-way speaker system if "a clear, hifi listening experience" is the goal.

It's easy to design a speaker, but it's hard to design a really good one. As a decent starting point, I recommend The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook, by Vance Dickason. Then if you want a good intro to designing with a horn tweeter, visit Pi Speakers and read the papers there. Owner Wayne Parham is one of my teachers.

I know it's what you have, but given the price premium of neo these days, are you sure you want to use lightweight speakers in cabinets that don't get moved around?
