3015 vs. EVM effeciency in a TL606 cabinet

Sign in to disble this ad
I've finally faced the fact the Neo speakers are going to get expensive. Have read that the 3015 wroks well in a TL606 cabinet.
My question is will the SPL / effeciency be about the same between the 2 drivers?
Am using a 300 watt at 4 ohm Walkabout.

Also, for those that think that a 4 ohm is much louder than an 8 ohm driver in a single speaker cabinet: I have used both a 4 ohm 400 watt Carvin speaker (installed 15-20 years ago) and the recommended 8 ohm EV in this cabinet. The 4 ohm was only slightly louder. Amazingly, the both sound very good to my ears considering what they are, and, that the Carvin speaker was installed without any consideration to tuning.

Was hoping to get an answer on this today; will purchase a 3015 if there is not going to be a large volume difference. TIA

FYI: for some unknown effn reason, the eminence went from $172 each to $296 each.
I bought 2 a month ago for $172 each then returned them.
I am now kicking myself.

Jim, I seem to recall the EVM15 and the 3015 having pretty similar (highish) efficiency. Comparatively speaking, two 3015-loaded TL606 cabs pushed by a WA is pretty beefy-sounding. Not sure if you're considering it, but I wouldn't recommend using two TL606 cabs using those two different drivers, they sound very dissimilar from one another. I like them both, for their different strengths.

I recently heard two 3015 drivers loaded in a largish 215 cab from Rollersound and really liked the sound, less compressed than in my two TL606 type cabs, just smoother overall. No affiliation, the owner is good people:

there's been a big hubbub about the prices of neodymium skyrocketing due to some changes in China's export policies... looks like Eminence is taking it pretty seriously.
