350/450 watt speaker in a 100 watt combo

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Auoustic B100 combo (100 watts @ 4 ohms) used for practice. I also have a 4 ohm 350/450 watt speaker from an older avatar single 15 cab.

Any issues using the 350/450 watt speaker in the Acoustic combo??

I got to beleive the Acoustic speaker is much lower quality than the avatar speaker.

That 350/450 watt rating is thermal power handling. Unless it is one of those speakers where it takes stupid amounts of power to do much of anything which is not likely if I recall what they stuffed in the Avatar cabs, you are probably safe. Whether the characteristics of the speaker are a good match for the Acoustic enclosure is another question. Would not hurt to try.
