4 ohm 2x10 vs. 8 ohm 4x10

Sorry if this is another dead horse that's been beaten, but:

If I have an Acoustic B200 head (does 200 watts at 4 ohms, and I think 160 or something like that at 8 ohms), then:

Would I get comparable volume from running the head through a 4 ohm 2 x 10 as opposed to an 8 ohm 4 x 10? I know the wattage rating of the speakers matters, but in general does this make sense?

You should get more volume out of the 4x10 based on the increase surface area of the speakers. The power difference only being 40 watts different between 4 adn 8 ohms shouldn't be all that audible of a difference...

In general, doubling the wattage has the same effect as doubling the speaker surface area with all else remaining constant. Within reason of course. 1kW through a 2x10 is not going to sound the same as 500W through a 4x10.

You'll get a LOT more from the 4x10.
