4 Ohm 2x12 cabinet recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for a good sounding 4 ohm, 2x12 cabinet that handles more than 200w. The point being I'd like to take full advantage of my bass head which puts out 200w at 4 ohms. I'm looking for a single cab solution, so stacking two 8 ohm cabs is a non starter.

I've owned and gigged the Berg AE212 and also an Aguilar DB212 (comes in 8 or 4ohm - mine is 4). I like the Aguilar. It's a good sounding cab, and I've used it with a couple different amps on gigs.

The Genz Benz NEOX 212 is supposed to be one of the best sounding 212s out there.

And before someone else says it... fEARful 1212/6, best cab ever, end of discussion.

More than a few nice 4ohm 212 cabs out there. Budget? Tone preference/music style?

More details

Thanks for all the responses so far! My preference is to purchase something new, but if I were to find something locally that was in great shape and tested out well, I would consider it. Price-wise, maybe something in the $500 range, plus or minus a bit, would be great.

Tone-wise, I like a full, deep, "round" sound. That's the most important factor, more so than weight, price, etc. The type of music would be typical classic rock cover band stuff, with maybe a few other genres thrown in on occasion.

The only one I own is an EBS Neo 212. I think it's got a full, deep, "round" sound, and it's light, compact, and damned loud. Better than GenzBenz/Aguilar/Epifani? I don't know - I love my little EBS combo so much that it went straight for their HD350 and matching Neo 212 when I needed a big club/outdoor rig. No regrets. Not cheap new, though.

I use an avatar b212 neo and to me it definitely has a full, round sound. It also seems to be quite mids-heavy, which helps cut through the mix rather easily. Great cab IMO, and is right around your price. Can be had way under budget if you decided to go used.

Bergantino HD212 if you want to spend lots of money. I want that cab so bad.
Epifani T212 is my favorite cab I've ever owned.
Avatar 212 is supposed to be awesome to.

I've owned a few 2x12's, and by far, my favorite is the Genz benz Uber 212, followed closely by the Aguilar DB212. Cost more than your target budget new, but should be close if buying used.

I'll second the Uber 212. It's a fantastic cab. I AB'ed the Uber 212 next to my Avatar B212 and it was not even a remotely close comparison in terms of tone and volume. The Avatar went up for sale the very next day with no regrets.

A new GK Neo 212-II is in your budget and sounds good...if you can find one in stock.

OP, you'll get just about as many recommendations as you do replies. Take your amp and bass into a music store and try some stuff out.

You're limiting your options. Besides, most 2x12 cabs have the drivers horizontal or off-set, while vertical gives a better result.

But, but...

A: There is no minimum. A 50 watt amp will sound very good, as will a 1000 watt amp. One will obviously be capable of much higher SPL than the other, but both will be accurately reproduced.
I know that my 15/6 is happy whether I feed it 240W or 800W (I do both regularly).

Bill, you have said many times on this site that "watts don't matter":

(from what speaker cab would you recommend?)

The two positions seem to be contradictory - what am I missing? Could you clear it up for me?

Thanks!

I have both a Genz Benz Uber 212 and a NeoX212. I would say these are the best 2-12 cabs I've ever owned and sound AWESOME together.
