The point being I'd like to take full advantage of my bass head which puts out 200w at 4 ohms. I'm looking for a single cab solution, so stacking two 8 ohm cabs is a non starter. |

The Genz Benz NEOX 212 is supposed to be one of the best sounding 212s out there.
And before someone else says it... fEARful 1212/6, best cab ever, end of discussion . |

My preference is to purchase something new, but if I were to find something locally that was in great shape and tested out well, I would consider it. Price-wise, maybe something in the $500 range, plus or minus a bit, would be great.
Tone-wise, I like a full, deep, "round" sound. That's the most important factor, more so than weight, price, etc. The type of music would be typical classic rock cover band stuff, with maybe a few other genres thrown in on occasion. |

| | | | The only one I own is an EBS Neo 212. I think it's got a full, deep, "round" sound, and it's light, compact, and damned loud. Better than GenzBenz/Aguilar/Epifani? I don't know - I love my little EBS combo so much that it went straight for their HD350 and matching Neo 212 when I needed a big club/outdoor rig. No regrets. Not cheap new, though.

It also seems to be quite mids-heavy, which helps cut through the mix rather easily. Great cab IMO, and is right around your price. Can be had way under budget if you decided to go used. |

Epifani T212 is my favorite cab I've ever owned.
Avatar 212 is supposed to be awesome to. |

I AB'ed the Uber 212 next to my Avatar B212 and it was not even a remotely close comparison in terms of tone and volume. The Avatar went up for sale the very next day with no regrets. |

OP, you'll get just about as many recommendations as you do replies. Take your amp and bass into a music store and try some stuff out. Quote: |

| You're limiting your options. Besides, most 2x12 cabs have the drivers horizontal or off-set, while vertical gives a better result.

A: There is no minimum. A 50 watt amp will sound very good, as will a 1000 watt amp. One will obviously be capable of much higher SPL than the other, but both will be accurately reproduced. | I know that my 15/6 is happy whether I feed it 240W or 800W (I do both regularly).
Bill, you have said many times on this site that "watts don't matter": Quote:

The two positions seem to be contradictory - what am I missing? Could you clear it up for me?
Thanks! |
