4 ohm Sealed 410

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anybody make a sealed 410 that's rated for 4 ohms? I love my SVT-2PRO/810 combination but would like a smaller 410 to take to smaller/upstairs gigs. Most 410 are 8 ohms, and the only 410's I have fount rated for 4 ohms are ported.

ouch $900, maybe it would be cheaper to find a used ampeg 410HE and change the speaker.

Changing the speakers won't be cheap, and it'll be a crapshoot. It's unlikely you'll find the same speakers in a different impedance.

Why does it have to be four ohms?

To use it with a SVT-2PRO tube head.

The manual especifies 2 or 4 ohm loads only. Is it safe to run an 8ohm load on the amp?

The Golight would be way cool: an 800 watt cabinet that weighed a lot less than the head

Not sure where you'd find one, but I have an old Peavey 4x10 cab that's built into it's own flight case (the front 'door' latches off). It has four Black Widow speakers and sounds phenomenal given it's small size. 4 ohms, and 400w speakers. Very tight sounding.
I believe it was built for sound reinforcement, but the guys at Peavey were quite excitable about use as a bass cab. FWIW, the Peavey tech line were superb.

Im really considering going this way, but the $900 dollar price tag is a little too much considering an Ampeg 810 costs $1000.

Most 8 Ohm 4x10 cabs are loaded with 8 Ohm speakers wired in a series/parallel configuration. You could just rewire it all parallel, which would give you a 2 Ohm load.
