Wink 400 Watts From A YBA-200!

Sign in to disble this ad
I just installed a new set of Sung-Tols KT140's. 100 Watt tubes, this thing sounds really great! Nice and grindy. They are compatible with the KT88's sockets without any modification.

I don't know if this could damage the amp, although the lights dim when I turn it on.

I'm curious to see how long this works.

did you actually measure the output? i find it hard to believe that the YBA-200's output tranny is capable of 400 watts of output. i have one and it isn't all that big of an output tranny.
I'm not sure if the power tranny is also up to the task of handling the higher filament current either.

sounds like an 'april fool' to me too.

Yeah, just like putting a bigger gas tank on my car. It won't have more horsepower.

that kinda reminds me of this story:

i went to the local pep boys and the guy behind the counter said that if i installed this new high tech fuel filter, i could get 50% better gas mileage. so i did.
then he said to change the chip in my electronic ignition to a new new one with a more efficient throttle curve and i could increase my gas milage another 50%. so i did.
after that, he said that if i bought these new tires with less rolling resistance and overinflate them i could get another 15%boost in gas milage, so i did that too.

so after performing all of these modifications, when i drove out of the parking lot, my gas tank overflowed.

Just for the record - when they are they'll not give an SVT or a YBA200 more output power.

they don't draw THAT much more heater current than kt88's. I think it'd be more of a case of them blowing themselves up
