Sign in to disble this ad
I cant fit may damn cab in my new car. its a pretty standard sized peavey 410. what I want to know is, is there a shallow 410 cab out there I can buy just for practice? its the depth of most cabs that kill me. I can sacrifice "boom" as I only need to use it for rehearsal. We have a van for gigs. Help.....

Ditto 2 210's. Or if it's for practice, maybe even a single 210?

If u already have and like the 4-10 cabs, Then Markmass does make incredibly good sounding 2-10 cabs. Their profile is small and their also very lightweight...and no I'm employed by MB...lol

I would measure your car and your Peavey. I have a Peavey 1x15 that sounds hugggge, but it is a good 3-4 inches deeper than my Hartke Hydrive 4x10.

I'd also say (2) 210s. I have (and love) a Peavey 410TX, and it won't fit in the trunk of a doggone Chrysler 300! If I use it, I have to belt it into the back seat.

Might be a little of in the weeds, but a Genz Benz NeoX 212T maybe? It handles 600 watts, is much smaller than a 4x10, weighs in at a svelte 53 lbs. It's the 4x10 killer! (according to Jeff Genzler)

How easy is it to remove the passenger seat? It gets a lot easier to get gear in that way ^^

The DNA DNS-410 is only 16" deep.
(33"H x 23.74"W x 16"D)

...but I agree with the "two 210s" idea.

Older, shallow but great sounding - and HEAVY...Bag End 4.10. I guess if it was good enough for Patitucci, it would be good enough for the rest of us.

I had to turn in my 4x10 sugarcube (sounded plenty sweet to me) for a pair of 2x10's when I got a Corolla. At first I figured "oh well", since I had to get wee cabs, but I haven't missed that big box one bit.

I can load in/out without help - having to make an extra trip between the car and the stage is no biggie.

I have a "small rig" option if I need it.

My old cab ran at 8 ohms, but my newer cabs together run at 4 ohms (a plus for my rig).

I can stack them like a 4x10, go vertically if I need to hear better, or set them in a "T" with the lower cab aimed at my drummer while the top one shoots forward. Flexibility can be a very good thing.

Bottom line: my pair of 2x10's sound at least as good as my old 4x10. I should note that the 2x10's are the same SWR Workingman's line as the 4x10 they replaced.

So there's that.

I agree also!!!

My working rig consists of two 210 cabs.
Use one for rehearsals/small jobs, two when more volume and coverage is needed.
Stack them as a vertical 410 and take advantage of the physics that arrangement will give over a standard configured 410.

What kind of a car do you have that you can't get a 4x10 into? I've gotten an 8x10 and my current 4x10 into my Mustang, and have gotten a 4x10 into a Corvette (with my HSC, too). That car has to be unbelievably tiny.

If you want to fit it in your trunk, 2 2X10 isn't going to help. When I was searching for shallow cabs, I was going to go with Hartke as I think their cabs were the thinnest. Wound up with a Bergantino NV610, which is a surprisingly thin 15". I couldn't be happier. Fits in a space a lot of other bottoms wouldn't.

Look into the bottoms you like, check the specs, and go from there. You won't be sorry if you go the Bergantino route.

Orange makes the isobaric cabs, which are tiny and sound good. They are also incredibly expensive
