Which 410 For Me? Pair with Aguilar AG500

Sign in to disble this ad
At present, I'm using an AG500 and use both channels and punch in and out of them, with a pair of Aggie 210DB cabs. I'm actually pretty happy with my sound overall, but sometimes think different cabs would be better. The main reason I want to move into a 410 is because I'm old, have a bad back, and am tired of schlepping around a pair of 210's without wheels and want to swap them for a 410 with wheels.

Obviously an Aggie 410DB is in the running, one of the other things I don't like about the Aggies is that they have a thin vinyl covering and they mar and rip very easily, just with regular careful handling. The covering they use is inadequate for the weight of their cabinets, IMO. Whatever I get, I'm going to put it in the back of my truck, face down, and slide it in. A carpet cover handles that fine, but this thin vinyl doesn't.

An obvious question is if I'm an old guy looking for something easier, why get a 410? It's because I used a GK 410RBH and it was much easier than the Aggies. The weight of a 410 is less of an issue than the mobility of it.

As for style, think Cramps to Sabbath. No funk or jazz. Mostly with a pick.

Look at an Aguilar GS 410.

I'd suggest the db212: 18 pounds less then the 410.
The 4 ohm version is the perfect cabinet for my needs!!!!

D2Fcovers.com does great covers!

The Genz Benz Uber410 has an amazing sound, good handles, wheels for convenient rolling. Lightweight too for a 410.

I've been looking at Eden, but not sure and locally nobody stocks the Aggies or Edens. I have a Genz Benz 8T with a Shuttle 3.0 that I use around the house and for quiet jams sometimes. Not that crazy about the tone. I took it to a recording once and went direct out of it to the board and wasn't that crazy about it then either, but it's little and light and fills the bill for some situations. I haven't tried their bigger cabs.
