I have an ampeg b2re 450w (@ 4ohms) and I just recently acquired an ampeg 610 classic 600w (@ 4ohms). Is my head gonna be effected cause of under powering, will I need to get another piece of equipment (power amp), or am I ok? Any help is greatly appreciated! |

That means, leave your master volume permanently on 11, better 12 or even 13, since reducing volume would mean your amp provides less power to the speaker.
Use the search function, this is a widely and exhaustingly discussed subject...
Or better even, read the FAQ

That head might not get the most volume out of your cabinet, but there's no danger to either head or cabinet. |

A: There is NO SUCH THING as underpowering - if there was, amps would not come with a volume knob or be able to be turned off (the ultimate in underpowering).
B: That 600 watt rating is a thermal rating for the voice coils to melt, NOT a minimum of power that must be supplied. Additionally, the mechanical limits of the speaker are far less than the thermal ratings - probably would not be able to handle the wattage you have now without farting out or distorting.

All that stress of just sitting there, not being driven. Yegads! - it's a wonder people can even get their cars home from the dealership without suffering tire mishaps! |

and stop busting balls about the faq. nobody reads it, least of all the people who always say to read the faq.
