4ohm and 8ohm cabinets together?
Hello i have a Q: how can i connect my stack to get the best sound/power out of it?
i have a
-GK 1001rb ii head (460W @ 8 Ohms 700W @ 4 Ohms)
-Swr Son of bertha 1x15 8ohms 350watts
-Swr Goliath III 4x10 4 ohms, 700 watts
Should i switch the 8ohm cab for another 4ohms?
Thx for all the help! :)
Anyone can help? >.<
The most common answer you will get to this question will be to ditch the 1x15 for another 4x10 as mixing drivers is not considered best practice here on Talkbass.
However, if your head is only capable of running at 8 or 4 ohms, you won't be able to run two 4 ohm cabs with it as that would result in a 2 ohm load.
If you want more volume, a bigger cab (i.e. more speakers) would be the best route to take, such as a 4 ohm 6x10 or 8x10.
Hope that helps :)
It did thx man! Gonna start looking at 6x10's or for a other 4x10 :P
You won't be able to connect another 4x10 with your current one as the impedance will then be too low for your head (assuming your 4x10 is 4ohms). Would would need to get two 8ohm 4x10s in order to be able to connect them both
They have a swr 4ohms 6x10 1000watts for sale $300 bucks used(looks really clean) should i jst switch to that ? And sell my other cabs?
1 - 8ohm cab OK
1 - 4ohm cab OK
2 - 8ohm cabs OK
2 - 4ohm cabs NOT OK
1 - 4ohm + 1 - 8ohm NOT OK
Best bet would be to try one, but if you are confident enough that you will like it, I reckon that is a pretty good price. It would let you get the most power out of your head and would be a bit louder than your current 410 cab
Thx a lot guys!
All this really help me a lot :D
