| Cabs are one of those things that still belong to the gods.
10's are generally punchier and more clear but 12's are advertised as being the best of both worlds (10's and 15's). But then a (at the same power rating) warwick 4x10 will (probably) be louder than an eden 15 because of the bigger cone area but not as hi-def, that might be a good of a bad thing depending on the sound you like.
And then there come the purists that say that 4x10's and 6x10's and 8x10's are not good choices because speakers placed side by side, among other things, cut the sound's horizontal spread... so your best choice would be vertically staked cones (line two 2x10 cabs placed sideways)
What I mean is that, as far as cabs go, you have no choice but to play as many combinations as you can and then pray that your choice was the wise one.
On a more personal note, regardless of music style I would advise you to go for the more Hi-Fi cabs. The reason is simple, it is much easier to EQ to make a clear cab sound like an Ampeg 8x10 than to make an Ampeg 8x10 sound more Hi-Fi.
