Interesting, especially as you can only get 1800W out of a standard 120V 15A circuit!.

That's a subwoofer amp. Looks like they are finally doing direct sales now. My SP1-1000 has been my main gigging amp for the last few years.

A misconception, of course. You can get 1800W of constant power, but it's completely possible to power a GW-level device off a standard socket, if you have enough capacitors to store energy. Most amplifiers come with capacitors to do exactly that (store energy).

You got yours mounted in a speaker cabinet? I'm always impressed with your collection of cool equipment!

The OEM pages have interesting bi-amp and tri-amp models listed...

Any idea what they cost, Charlie?

I still have it in my "temporary" rack mounting kludge that I built back in 2006.

Not sure how they're going to handle DSP programming for direct sales. Hopefully by offering something a little friendlier than the interface I'm using...it's a bit of a bear!

$1299, and since it's a subwoofer amp only that very much removes it from consideration for bass cabs. Even for pro-sound subwoofer use that's a very steep price compared to what's available in rack mount amps.

It looks a lot like the power section on my Bergantino IP... Is that just a coincidence?

Probably not. I don't think Jim ever claimed to build those amps in-house. But it won't sound like an IP unless you can replicate the DSP programming.

Unless you've got one helluva big capacitor bank, 1800W of constant power is all you get. 10 ms peaks to 4000W are not even going to affect the average power drawn.

It does full-range.

--
Front panel has one input, a balanced XLR input with a looping XLR output.
One detented volume control, two push switches, one selects full range response or a 30-80 Hz sub filter, the other a polarity reversal.

I just sort-of said that...

it IS the power section of the Berg IP...same amp he uses, which is what I implied...

It's the same amp Jim uses in the IP...sorry.

The DSP is custom programmable by the buyer - they give you a program to do it with (if you buy enough of them).

Cheers,
Cameron

My bass notes are 50ms of sine waves

Price depends on if you're an OEM.
