70s acoustic head&cab

There a 70s acoustic head and cab for sale near me ive been looking to get new rig for awhile ow since i only have an asdown five fifteen 100 watt combo right now the guy said it's a 450 head with 106 cab that's 2x15 now he says they both work great but the cab needs some brace upgrade says it rattled at low frequency.. he's asking 400 for the whole rig and said he pretty firm on the price should i go check it out or just pass and keep looking?

I live-inherited my dads two Acoustic rigs from the 70s, and the big one (371) is just now starting to give me fits. I had someone go through the 136 (was doing a few funny things but is fine now). I think unless you're really a freak for old Acoustic stuff, I'd try to get something more reliable / ready to aim + fire.

If this is to be your first proper bass rig, I'd be looking at more modern stuff. You can still shop for used gear, but with so many improvements since the 70's, it's hardly worth buying vintage gear, unless you collect this stuff.

I'd advise you to go for it honestly. I play a modern PF500 stack (Ampeg) but also have a thing for vintage gear and found an Acoustic 220 head from the late 70's for $65 in a flea market. Its in ok shape, but someone at some point painted over the blue line in this industrial black paint. Kind of a shame, but even with the weird cosmetics and apparently bad treatment over time it fired right up when I brought it home. They clearly are not that unreliable. If you dig the sound go for it, and if you do just make sure to treat it right and it should do the same to you.
