70's Ampeg

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, just had a question that hopefully someone here can help me with...

Just won an auction on a 1970's Ampeg SVT (soooo excited to actually get it), only problem is, I'm not 100% positive on the year of manufacture. Hopefully one of the Ampeg Whizz's on here will have an answer. Since I don't have the amp yet, it may be hard for me to give specifics, but I will try and attach the pictures with the best information.

Thanks guys

Scott

^^^What he said.

This page puts it between 72-75.

You are now the proud owner of a MIGHTY bass amp. I want to be buried with mine.

Woo... didn't expect such a quick response- thanks guys. that ampeg website has just found its way onto my bookmarks. What really seals the deal is the fact that its being shipped in a flight case. I almost just want to go to sleep until it arrives from California!

i don't think that its a '75 unless its an early one. the '75 that i had, had different faceplate ( bottom SVT in the pic).

What these guys said and you're stoked. Have fun with it and lift some weights between now and its arrival... You'll need the extra muscle!

Is it just me, or is that later model on the bottom of the stack narrower than the other two?

Looks just like my 73, which I dated from the pots.

I guess I'll have to date it myself from the pots or caps when I get it. Thanks for the input guys!

Congrats man. I was looking at that one, I've had my eyes on a few but it seems like they keep slipping away.

I was honestly totally shocked when I won the auction with no-one else bidding. I thought for sure someone(s) would be waiting till the last possible moment to pounce on it...
