8 ohm amp and 16 ohm cab

My question is:
Is it safe to run a 8/4/2 ohm rated SS amp into a 16 ohm cab?

hopefully the gods of Amps have the answer?

Thanks in advance..

Yep, you'll just get less power out of it...

It is always Safe to run a higher ohm cab with a head that is rated 4 ohms or lower.....The the 2,4,or 8 ohm power rating of a head is just that....a power rating for what that amp will put out at that ohm rating...For example My GK head is rated at 700 watts and 4 ohms and 460 watts at 8 ohms.. The Higher the ohm's of the cab you use the less power you will be getting from the head and the less the head will be working.. Like if i decided to run a 16 ohm or 32 ohm cab through my head It would work just fine... Just would not have very much power from the head at those ratings. Now that being Said You DO NOT want to run a cab or combo of cab that will give you a lower then 4 ohm rating Like 2.6 or 2 ohms with a head that has a minimum ohm rating of 4 ohms. You will Fry the head cause it can not handle the load that a 26 or 2 ohm load rating with take from it and it will over heat and be cooked like yesterday's Dinner!!!
