Has anyone tried this with this amp? I know all the dangers and horror stories of running amps below minimum load blah blah blah. I'm not saying I'm going to run out and hook up a bunch of 4 ohm cabs either, more I'm just curious if anyone has ever tried running one of these heads below 4 ohms and with what results? Thanks

i have one, but no. however, i did run 2 different GK400 rbs mixed with an 8/4 ohm cab for years. it was supposed to no lower than 4, but i think that was 2.6 if i remember correctly. it sounded fantastic for a decade, then one day caught on fire. had the other burn out the 'thermistor' and got it fixed. lasted a while longer and burned it up too. no head has ever sounded better than those two, but from my experience i wouldn't do it. after scorching the boards, they are statues now....

I've seen the results with that amp of running below the rated impedance. Very often players have plugged their 4Ω speaker into the high amp by mistake. Only takes a few moments to kill it. Same goes for the low amp below 4Ω. It's an elderly design with no protection against too low impedances.

4 Ohms min on 300W channel
8 Ohms min on 100W channel
Do not go lower!
