800W Analog MoMark frame

Sign in to disble this ad
This would be the solution for my amplification needs.

I know the frame would go up in weight a bit, but I would not care.

Anyone else prefer the Analog power amp sound compared to the digital?

It appears that the Markbass camp is a 50/50 split in the
analog / digital realm.

I just would like a little more of that analog sound for outdoor gigs.

Does anybody else want to see this?

For whatever reason, MB heads with each of the amps they use sound quite different. I LOVE the 500 watt class D 'f' series, and also the 500 watt class A/B models. The 800 series class D sounds quite different, and from reports, the 1200 watt class D module sounds different again.

Not sure if it is the power amps, or just different voicing, etc. that they use with each of the models.

I guess my point is, there would be no guarantee that a 800 watt class A/B version would sound like the 500 watt class A/B models.

I've only compared the stand-alone heads. This might be quite different with the 500/600/800 watt Momark modules, since you would definitely have the same pre voicing if you use the same pre/EQ/master modules. That would be a fun comparison to do. It doesn't really make sense to me that the power amp alone would account for the huge differences in tone among these amps. (e.g., the LMIII, the F500, and the SD800).

Hi Ken...Agreed...They do sound quite different when compared to each other. I have done some A/B-ing with other players and my preference of choice is the LMII/LMIII. For my basses and technique the difference in the lower mids compliments my tastes and playing needs more so.

Your correct there would not be gaurantee, however if Markbass engineering could design it that the 800 analog was purly a big brother version of the what was in the LM II/III

IMHO I think the power amp does contribute to tone of the amp itself. One reason to back this up is that they have 500 A and 600 D. Those wattage are close but the the designs are different and I'm guess that was done for a reason. (Unless really the EQ points are drastically different between head to head).

I'm booking now for some early outdoor fall festival shows already for 2011 and if there was a MoMark that was truly the big brother version of LMIII that had that 800 Analog frame...I would be pretty stoked. If I could bring it down to a 2 ohm load and use it with 2 AE410s (I know that might sound overkill) I would be in heaven.

Peter, Marco and Riccardo...(I all hope you see this request) I know a few players who would love to see this.

NOTE: PA support, yes I know some folks are going to say well just use the PA support.
However let me tell you if have done some larger louder out door shows that have a lot of foot traffic in not the most idea places for sound that extra cabinet and headroom makes your job much easier.

In these cases I look the option of having more.

Just nit picking but Class D does not stand for "digital". Both the Class AB and Class D are analogue.

Gotcha...It was a poor choice for my abbreviation in my writings
I am aware of the actual classifications.
