810 in a Pontiac Grand Am?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just curious if anyone is able to fit an 810 into the back seat of their grand am. I really want to get an 810, but a new car isn't really an option so if it doesn't work then I guess a smaller cab is my only option.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

If I got one into my 2008 Mustang GT, you can get one in your Grand Am. It might take some heave ho and finangling . Maybe seat removal haha.

I believe 810's are usually around 48-52 inches tall. Measure your backseat from the back door armrest to back door armrest (they sometimes over lap the seat) with the doors closed. I would think you'd have that space. The problem lies in the door opening itself. The ampeg 810 is 26 x 16 or 18 on the floor. You'd need that in the door opening for it to go. I have a Dodge Spirit, which has a pretty square door opening and I cannot fit my SVT-410 HLF, which the same width/depth as the 810. Hope that helps.

I used to fit an Ampeg 810 classic into the back seat of my 98 Cavalier. It literally had 1/2" to spare on each side where the windows began to curve inwards.

The door was kind of strained as I loaded it in and out, so if you're planning to keep the car in mint condition, I don't think this is possible. But just being able to fit it with no ther factors I imagine you will be fine. Measure across your backseat at the skinniest point to be sure.

I have my doubts about it laying on its side in that vehicle.

You may need a 1966 Bonneville for that, LOL! I used to fit my Acoustic 301 in the backseat of a '71 Dodge Coronet 440, no problem, and an 810 would have fit instead--though they were not my cup of tea.

Consider one of these (2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring):

Well I got a 410 in, but i suppose differing brands still have differing dimensions. Only thing to do is just measure for a specific cab. Thanks!

Good luck on that. Make sure you have your chiropractor's number handy.

If it's a 4-door, then probably, as long as the opening is wide enough and the door swings open enough.

I could fit a 610HLF and a straight-back 8x10 into my chevy aveo (as well as an SWR big bertha, SWR henry the 8x8, and a 70s fender bassman 4x12). Also, people I know can fit the 810E across the back seat of their lumina and maxima. The 8x10 can be a pain to move on your own since it doesn't have side handles, but if you tip it onto the seat and then push it across (and don't care much about your interior) you should be fine.

Well mine is a four door so that may make a difference. I have a friend who has one at his practice space. Maybe we can give it a try out. Thanks again all.

I'm thinking not...

And buddy, if you gotta have a 8x10, you need a truck or SUV. That's part of the co-pay.

Eh I was afraid of that. Well I'm a poor college student so a new/used car is almost out of the question. Oh well xD

I'll bet!

I too used to schlep my rig in tiny cars - I broke not one but TWO windshields, from the inside, schlepping 4x10 cabs around in various tiny hondas / Toyotas...

I learned. Now I have a truck.

my prius is a beast. I can put my peavey 4x12 in the back without laying down the seats. the upright bass I had fit like a dream. 8x10 is a piece of cake.

I played with a guitarist who smashed the rear window of a minivan with an un-secured 4x12. It happens.

What gen grand am do you have. I had a 98 gt couple I could get a 2x10 and 4x10 in the back seat. The 99+ were wider as a matter of fact that was their slogan for the last gen. "Wider is better"

+1. I used to put an Acoustic 301 into a Saab 96 that way. Also fit a 3/4 DB in there, but not at the same time.
