Anyone have a direct source for a replacement driver for a Loud Industries (non-USA) made SVT 810e?
I had a scare last week in rehearsal and it reminded me that i never did but a backup for this cab. I "believe" the speakers are Eminence drivers, but i could be mistaken. (they are whatever comes from the factory).
Thanks

however, one single replacement speaker won't do you much good on a gig. if a signal is enough to blow one, it will probably take out more than one, and it could take out all of them. plus carrying around a raw speaker is a sure way to damage it. if i were you, i'd just find a backup cab, or i'd be more careful about volume. you really have to be slamming those cabs hard to get them to blow, so chances are you're way too damn loud anyway

It wasnt a loose grille (no way, those little velcro pucks Ampeg uses are phenomenal) so it really puzzled me.
I just always used to have a replacement driver for my 8x8 when i had that and never go around to getting one for the Ampeg. Old habits die hard I guess. |

I really do want to pick up another 810e I'm a sucker for symmetry on stage, but also because from what i've been told the SVT amps, at least the CL, 2, and 4, really open up when you run them into two cabs vs one |

as for symmetry onstage, if you mean putting a cab on both sides of the drummer, i know some bassists do that, but it's not recommended because it will cause cancellation zones in the crowd. best to keep them together if you use two.

In all likelihood if I were to ever push the idea of a second cab (which as a band we have discussed, and everyone likes the idea of the look, just not the guy with the heaviest gear in the band adding a second cab) It would be a dummy. I've actually thought about either making a clone cabinet or using an empty shell to make a giant work box/road case type deal with drawers and a hinged front door so that it looks the part on stage, but isnt entirely dead space in the trailer. |

Nitram | it's called "comb filtering." i'm sure you've heard rooms where the bass sounds great in one spot, but move 2 feet away and it disappears. that's comb filtering, and it's caused when you have low end sources separated but too close to each other. room reflections can also cause it, but it's mostly due to not keeping your low end sources together or at least a wavelength of their lowest note apart.

I'll try looking in that notion a little more when I get more time...
