Hey, I'm about to upgrade my amp. I'm getting an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO III full stack. I cannot decide between getting one single 8x10 cabinet or the combination of 1x15 and 4x10 (all ABM series). Don't care about weight or size, just sound. Any advice? |

Let your ears decide, before getting all practical about which one is easier to transport - whether you'll only use a single 15 or 4x10 for smaller gigs or recording. etc etc. |

Personally if i was going down that path i'd choose the two 4X10 route for flexibility

I agree - but will add that a 4 ohm 410 + 8 ohm 210 is also a very versatile combination... After trying them all many times over the years, I tend to use a 610 the most, followed by either an 810 or a 215, then occasionally just a 410...
*For me*, one large cab is easier to gig with than 2 separates...

Yes they can be pigs some times and i wonder if i maybe should of gotten 1 810.... but then again when i need to split and only have one cab for practice it is great and hey i think it look Good with 2 stacked cabs... So whether it Breaks my back or my bank i am sticking with it cause they sound great!!! Best of luck mate!!! Cheers~Elliot

The 410 completely overpowers a 115. You never hear the 115 unless you are 100 feet away from the rig. Maybe not even then. Been there and done that with GK cabs. At least the cabs were the same size so the rig looked proportionate and fit together well. The 410/115 rig seems to be a marketing ploy more than anything else.
2 x 410 or 2 x 115. I wouldn't do the 810 myself simply because loading that thing at 2:00 A.M. would make me gag.
Don't wright off a 2 x 115 rig until you try it. I still have the cabs to do that set up and at times prefer that to 2 x 410.

I find a total of eight tens to be most useful. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
