Kind of a super-vague "question" there... What do you want to know?

yeah i know its pretty vague!

Bassically im wondering what the advantages/ dissadvantages are of using these rather than say a 4X10 and a 1 X15.

Only one trip to the van for your cab. It's also big so people offer to help you move it.

8x10's and the like are easier to move because people recognize its size. Try getting help with 2 ea. 70-90lbs cabs and you look like a wuss.

And if no one is gonna help you just kick it back and wheel it around. I've been offroading several times with a big cab

I'd give a 4X12 a try as well.

I like my 410. Easy to get in the back of the Expo, but it has such a low center of gravity; it can be a pain just to wheel. The 610, which is static in the rehearsal venue is much easier to maneuver, but it's a pain - literally – in the back. Sound? I have played bass for 36 years, mostly without any effects. My personal taste for sound is always there, no matter what I am trying to accomplish.

If you're willing to learn how to re-Tolex, then you can find some pretty killer deals out there on 810s. Just also buy a back brace and/or hire pals to come help you lift it! Just ask my chiropractor...

4x10 vs. 1x15? Simple. You move more air. I borrowed a friend's 1x18 to hear what the difference was. Good bottom end, but I lost defintition in my mids and highs. But again, that's what I hear. We all hear what we are or are not looking for.

What don't you like about your current setup? That would go a long way in this discussion. I don't like horns or ports on my cabinets. They don't seem tight enough to me. I play intricate rock music. I really like 10's because of how hard they punch, and so an Ampeg 8x10 works perfectly for me. Sealed cab, no horn, punchy 10's.

i totally understand not liking the mixed cab rigs. some work ok, some work horribly, but to my ears, none work superbly like matched cabs or an 810.

if you like the sealed 810 sound, you need look no further than ampeg. however, mesa, aguilar, fender, and genz benz all make very nice ported 810's that will go a little lower than the ampeg. they're not necessarily better, but different. for me, the ampeg 810 has all the low response i'll ever need or want. i find myself dialing out low end response on ported cabs in comparison.
