My vote would be to add a 15". I use a 2x10 with a 1x15 -- I love the punch from the 10's, but nothing replaces that oomph of the 15.

What kind of head do you use?
I had the Ampeg 410 HLF, and I sold it. I went with the mighty 810e. I have often thought about going back to the 410 + 115 biamped, since the 410 on it's own didn't cut it for me (lack of balls).

I LOVE my 810, it is 1000 times better than my old Peavy 215. It has clarity, punch, and depth, not to mention the 'Peg tone

the 8x10 definately! However, if you have a weak back, you may consider adding either another 4x10 or a 1x15 or even a 2x12. I, on the other hand, loved the 8x10 that i used to own. Coupled with an SVT II Pro, it was everything i wanted in a rig and more
just my .02
randy

NIIIIICE!!!!

I LOVE my SVT-5!!! I can't believe they discontinued it....

I think the 410+115 biamped with the clean =>power amp A => 115, and OD => to power amp B => 410 would sound great.

The 810e however, sounds killer simply bridged. I have had my rig set up so many different ways with my cab (the 810e allows for independent signals going to each 410 in the cab. It is made for biamping) but I have found the best tone, for me and my preference and basses, is from my SVT-5 bridged into the single input of my 810e.

*I like to run all my FX through the OD channel's FX loop.

Well, FWIW, one option, although not listed is the SVT6X10HLF.....sort of the best of both worlds...but if you like the 4X10HLF....the 6X10 will blow your mind!

well, I went with the 8x10 just because I love 10s!
I mean, the 15 is ok, but the lack of response kills me, and ou get plenty low end with these many 10s IMO!

As much as the 810 seems to be the industry standard, I'd rather go 410/115 simply because of portability. Nothing like moving a refrigerator EVERY WEEKEND.

or could you go 115 8 ohm, 112 8 ohm, 210 4 ohm, for a 2 ohm load? are there any heads that have 3 jacks to plug cabs into?

+1. Plus I am almost 40. I don't need to throw out my back lugging a fridge around again!

Is there a big diff in one 8x10 and 2 4x10 cabs? I was thinking of selling my SWR 1x15 and getting another 4x10.

15's anyone????

I too vote 6x10. However...

Lately I've been noticing that every time I hear a bass tone that is to die for, I come to find out it's a 15" miced.

Do 15's mic better than 10's?

I was always under the impression this was not the case and 10's were the way to go if micing...
