about my gear

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all i want to post my gear just to see what you think about. I've been building my gear since i joined talkbass, from the opinions of users here and of course the limits of money hehe.

Power AMP:

4 channel unbalanced input
Each channel treble bass reverb adjustable
Effects loops
5 band graphic equalizer
phantom power
300 watts stereo, only using one side, i think 150 watts.
The XLR inputs says "preamp input" im not sure if each channel has a preamp
Every channel have their own volume control
Master volume
This poweamp has no brand, the box just says Power Mixer.

Cutout: 8.90"
Mounting Depth: 4.3"
Magnet Type: 40 OZ
Cone Material: Non-pressed paper

Preamp:
The art tube MP Studio

Tone shaper:
Behringer BDI21 - dont know if using this or not, the power amp has a graphic eq.

Cheap Dr. Tech musicman style bass
Kent Armstrong HBMN1 pickup

Bass internal preamp:
SBK-2
Four (4) individual potentiometers:
Balance, Treble, Volume & Bass

The ONLY opinion that matters, is YOURS. Are you happy with the tone? Do you have enough volume? Those are the only pertinent questions, and yours is the opinion that matters. You do not need anyone else to justify your decisions.

+1
Only question is are the ports on your cab covered with carpet?

Hi, thanks for your responses, yes they are covered, i should uncover them to get best volume/definition right? i feel air coming out of them. I posted my gear just if you have some advise, a change of the setup, recommendations, etc... Are the woofers specs good for you? signal chain? i think i have enough power in this amp, the VU meter clips or goes red, almost on half way of the volume of the channel and master volume...and the gain of the ART TUBE 1/4 of gain, but with the volume button boost on, if that means something.

Your ports are barely active with being covered. As far as gain if you don't get distortion you're good. The Xmax looks okay on the drivers, the sensitivity is not bad. I didn't re-model for you to check cab volume and porting. Be ready to cover the ports if you get excessive speaker cone movement in the very low end. Best to use a purchased cab model program to check your tuning, I only have a free version.

If the powered mixer has a power amp in jack I would connect the Art there to bypass the mixers channel strips.

Curious about the total investment you have made. If you care to share it of course.

You know, it doesn't really matter how the tone is created...

As long as its sweet.

We need sound clips!

Sure themacinator, didnt buy all that in one day of course:

Power AMP: $170.00 but i had it from a PA that i used in eletro house, tribal, minimal parties , it has integrated usb mp3 player, mixer...
Cab: $121.00 box and drivers
ART Preamp: $30.00
BDI21 Tone shaper: $37.00
Bass: $99.00
Kent Armstrong HBMN1 pickup: $45.00
Bass internal preamp: $23.24

Like: $525.24 or a bit more

You are right shaginwagin...i know i should trust more in my ears.

So I would say that you did well. You have custom gear made to your specs that you like for a small amount of dough. Good for you.
